With the advent of the new LFG system people are running a lot more instances with strangers and I'm sure we've all run across someone who hasn't been to the instance before but doesn't say so. You can tell because:
  • They don't stop DPS when the Devourer of Souls casts Mirrored Soul
  • They stand on Hadronox's poison clouds
  • They don't move Urom out of the Frost Bomb (Actually, what people don't know about Oculus could be its own topic.)
And so forth. What are some things you think people should know about certain instances and bosses?

 hello, ladies.

i'm starting to feel very confused lately. i've been using the dungeon finder loads to do some emblem grinding and for as many people that love my heals there are also just as many that run-off at the mouth hating on them. let's talk about the latter... what's kind of strange is that i've had more than one of the anti-me people ask why i'm using rank 1 spells (which i'm not, and have double-checked). the kicker is that in most of these dungeons where i am "fail healing" there are no deaths or wipes - and it's infuriating.

alas, it bothers me. and i wonder if there is something that i am missing. i was hoping some you wonderful peeps could take a look at my armory for any glaring stat mistakes or the like. i'm at a loss.

i have no problem at all healing with my guild raids, but i think it's also a comfort thing. yet, i still want to be able to live up to the expectations of a pug... /sigh

Okay. On Wyrmrest accord, there is aforum for Roleplayers. And there is a "Pug's that make you WTF" thread. Right now, I'm not WTFing over someone's PuG so much as I am at their reaction to a PuG. I am hella pissed off right now because of it. Instead of posting a link to the forum itself and defaming the person who angered me, I'll just copy/paste it from the forum.
what the crap is this )

Incoming angry rant:

If you don't like the way people are treating you, get the hell out of the dungeon. Don't make an ass out of yourself in return, because it doesn't matter anymore how shitty they they've been - your reaction was awful and I'm actually what-the-fucking about that and not your dungeon right now. Saying that you'll "will rape you in the face with your knife," is not only a poor reflection of your character as a human being, but you know what? I'd kick you too. And I would report the hell out of you for that threat you made.

Allow me to say that uh, throwing words like "rape" around flippantly and using them in such a manner that it's a threat is. Never. Okay. What on EARTH was going through your head when you said this? I don't freaking care if your dungeon was horrible and they treated you badly - I get into pugs like that all. The. Time! And I LEAVE. I don't get herp-a-derp vote-kicked because I was saying unkind things - because I don't say them. People treat you terribly. Then what? You LEAVE the situation. End of story. Because your behavoir is reportable and just horrible in relation to theirs

Yeah, I have no sympathy. Sorry.

TLDR: What the hell is wrong with some people?
Edit: I was mad and...probably should have waited until I was calmer to post. =/ Guh.
Edit two: man, I feel hella bad posting this now. :(

With the wait time for healers and tanks being like nil in the LFG system now, I have taken to brushing the dust off some old alts and making them those specs if they can be. So far I have a 32 warrior, 72 druid, and my recently respecced 80 pali to tank. Then my 53 druid, 63 shaman, and 66 priest to heal. I have found I love druid and shaman healing. I have had a more difficult time getting back into healing with my priest as disc, since I was raiding with her as holy way back in vanilla. Could be lack of practice or change in spec, but it's just not gelling for me yet.

The tanks have been interesting. Thus far I have found warrior and pali tanking to be far easier than bear tanking, especially for multiple mobs. I looked up tons of info before I tried tanking on my bear again even though I'd done alot of it pre-Wrath. One of my best friends plays a bear tank and I have run countless heroics with him and he is always frustrated with his performance and now I can see why. Just seems a mad scramble for control. I am wondering if anyone else feels this way...?

So in a nutshell I think the druid is my favorite healer and the pali my favorite tank, though I could see the warrior bringing up a close second if I stick with leveling her. Any other altoholics taking advantage of the LFG system to level non-dps specs?

So, awhile ago the boy and I decided to do RAF. We got quite a few pairs to 60 with this, and ended up actually doing RAF twice, so we have a whoooole plethora of alts in the mid 50s-60 range. A lot of them we power-leveled through dungeons with our 80s, because ooooh boy it's silly how easy that is. When we were making the chars to level, I decided it would be funny to make a female gnome warrior with pink hair, and have her be the big bad tank, and the boy decided to make a priest to go with her, and now we've decided this is the next pair we want to get to 80.

I started at 60 without having actually played my warrior since level 15 or so, thanks to the power leveling. We did some quests in hellfire to get somewhat of the hang of it, and then stuck ourselves in the new low-level LFD. omg it pops SO FAST when you're a tank/heal combo. So we got thrown into Ramps the first few times, and I sucked of course, but I'm slowly starting to get better, and I think I've turned into a decent little tank. Decent enough that now we're saying we want to level exclusively through LFD, and not quest anymore. (They'll hit 80 without having the 100 quests completed achievement, which I find hilarious.)

It's nice too, because I get comments from people about how nice it is to actually have a warrior specced prot and tanking low-level, since they almost never see that. Yeah, I'm LOVING leveling this way, and I'm really enjoying tanking as well, surprisingly.

But, I want to be a good tank, too. I was wondering if any of you have advice for a lower level prot warrior?
This is my armory:
http://www.wowarmory.com/character-sheet.xml?r=Frostwolf&cn=Pinkea&gn=Spaceballs+The+Guild
I'm totally willing to respec if my spec is wonky or anything, too. I think I've been doing pretty well, but I only glanced at my friends 80 prot warriors spec, and sort of just threw points where they seemed right. Copied glyphs off that person, but I have no idea if they're right, either -- and now that I look, I have shockwave glyphed, but I haven't been using it. Should I be?

And, just for fun, how has the new LFD been treating YOU in lower levels? It takes me a lot longer to get in with my DPS I know, but I've had mostly good groups. Any fun stories?

I seek advice yet again from people much wiser then me.

While I am not the most hardcore of players, I do raid on my protection warrior and love it. I've toe stepped into ICC 25 man only to be crushed by Lord Marrowgar and have been working on getting my gear up to snuff. My first ICC 10 man will hopefully be later this week.

ToC 25 man last night finally let go of it's shield, so I bid farewell to my beautiful Royal Crest of Lordaeron for the coffin top.

My question is simple: how important is hit rating to a tank? As of right now, mine is terribad. (For legality, armory link)

It seems funny how I struggle to get hit on my warrior when my shaman is so much over cap.

I apologize ahead of time if I don't get all the appropriate tags on this post, I'm posting from work on my phone.

story here )

I wanted to put up a positive post because most of the time I think of posting its more on the negative side.

What great experiences have others had raiding for the first time or joining new guilds?

Edit: put in lj-cut, let me know if it doesn't work.

These are questions to all the ladies and the gents out there that have faction changed. What did you like most about the change? And what did you like least? What about something you miss now that you have changed?

I went horde today, leaving behind the horns and hooves of sexiness to take up the belf mantle which is also sexy but just missing the space goat appeal. However that is not what I am missing most! I miss my white hippogriff (silver covenant hippogriff) the most!
More so than anything else. The dragon hawk just doesn't do the same level of squee for me.

Side note: anyone have trouble with their UI/mods after changing? My mods seem to be having endless errors since I faction changed and while farming rep in ICC, my frames suddenly dropped from 35fps to 2fps. And then all my mods bugged out.  Restarted wow and they've bugged out again.  I really hope a repair is not in order.

I'm levelling my baby holy priest via the LFG system only. So far its gone swimmingly and i've gained 10 levels in about 36 hours. I've had a couple of awkward runs with people dropping groups and tanks who think it's fine to drag large packs when i'm nearly OOM, but it's all good.

Until this morning Read more... )

1.) Necrosis

If you have a warlock and you use Necrosis you have probably noticed that the "Shadow Trance" vocal cue hasn't been working, even though the addon has been updated since the last patch. This has something to do with what triggers the alert... I read up on it, but I can't explain it properly, and to be honest I don't feel like I need to know the particulars of the issue. I just want that ominous voice to keep chanting "Shadow Trance" in my ear. Read more... )

So my husband and I started WoW the other day on Turaylon (medium pop / normal serv). We're huge Warcraft fans, always have been, so we knew that Horde was where we wanted to be.. However the server we're on seems to be very quiet and full of, well, idiots. Trade chat is overloaded with people talking about petty squabbles, relationship issues and making random <(^.^)> crap like that all the time. I don't particularly want to LEAVE trade chat because I like checking out offers people are making.

Are all servers like this or can anyone here offer up a suggestion as to which server we should be looking at instead?

After wiping on Saurfang 3 times, it sure is nice surprise to murder him with no marks :D

What boss fights/achievements have you gotten that made you go "OH SHIT I CAN'T BELIEVE WE DID THAT!" When you totally weren't expecting it?

I use Clique and I have my click-to-cast heals going on and it's great, I use it in backup situations, since right now I still use healbot to manage my HoT timers.

Right now, I'm looking for a way to send my heals towards my target's target. I target the boss, so that means I'm throwing heals on whoever the boss has targeted - without clearing my target on the boss. I want to be able to use my click-to-cast heals on the boss's portrait and have it go to HIS target.

I'm a bit of a macro and Clique noob, is there any way I can do this? D:

I am about to start raiding ICC 10 man as the MT for one of my guilds raid groups. With Chill of the Throne and the 20% dodge nerf, is our threat really worse then before? Does Rune Strike proc less because of this, or has it seemed to stay the same? Would it be possible to stack dodge trinkets for on use threat in hopes that I would actually pop off more Rune Strikes? Or should I just stick with the +stm trinkets? Overall I have about 60% avoidance, and losing some dodge doesn't seem bad except for the threat issues it could cause.

Tonight, my two best friends and I went back to Kara and ran the whole thing. Dispite a couple of wipes because our pally thought it was funny to pull ALL the trash or move during flame wreath (after I was already dead so I couldn't heal him or the warrior), we finished and got our Kara achievements on these alts. It was also the first time I'd ever done Netherspite. (I dunno how I missed him before). Anyway, it was the most fun the three of us have had playing WoW in a long time.

What have you done that you had a ball doing lately?

I pretty much lived under a rock for the entirety of patch 3.2 (school...yay...). I now have some shiny new badges thanks to the dungeon finder system and I would like to spend them...but I don't know how to prioritize my upgrades. I want to do as much upgrading with badges as possible because I don't have a lot of time to raid. Both triumph and frost badges will buy upgrades for me right now.

Can you please point me to some good resources with info about the 3.2 and 3.3 badge gear for druids (mainly resto and balance)? I'm sure they're out there, but for some reason I wasn't finding what I wanted with google.

Thanks!

Dear mages, why do you use focus magic more often on my enhancement shaman than my moonkin?

Also, priest with the Stained-Glass Shard Ring equipped. Why?
